Richard Brown is currently Chairman of American Century Investments Board of Directors since and was previously Co-Chair of the Board of Directors from February 2007 to April 2010. Mr. Brown has also served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stowers Resource Management, Inc., Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Biomed Valley Corporation and Chairman of the Stowers Institute for Medical Research since January 2004.
He was previously President and Chief Executive Officer of Health Midwest from 1993 to March 2003, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Health Midwest from 1991 until his appointment as President and CEO in 1993. He joined Health Midwest (formerly Research Health Services System) in 1980. Brown has a Masters degree in Health Administration from the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Bachelors of Arts and Biology from Phillips University. |

David M. Chao currently serves as President and CEO of The Stowers Institute for Medical Research. He concurrently serves as Co-Chairman of BioMed Valley Discoveries. Prior to joining BioMed Valley Discoveries, Dr. Chao was Head of Strategic Alliances, Global Operations, at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, where he led a group responsible for identifying, evaluating, and negotiating pharmaceutical licenses and research collaborations. Previously, he served as a co-founder and executive at two biotech start-ups and as a consultant at McKinsey and Company.
Dr. Chao holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he was a pre-doctoral fellow of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He also received a combined M.A. and B.A. in Biology from Harvard University. |

Clifford W. Illig is Vice Chairman of the Board and co-Founder of Cerner Corporation, one of the world's largest suppliers of healthcare information technology solutions, healthcare devices and related services. He focuses on growing and expanding Cerner’s market-oriented business units, key strategic relationships and priority corporate initiatives.
Currently, Illig serves as a member of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and the Executive Committee of the Heart of America Council of Boy Scouts of America. In addition, he and Cerner Chairman and CEO Neal Patterson, along with others, are co-owners of the Kansas City Wizards. In 1991, Ernst & Young honored Illig and Patterson as Entrepreneurs of the Year. Prior to co-founding Cerner in 1979, he was a system consultant and manager with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Kansas City, Mo. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in accounting and business administration. |

William B. Neaves is President Emeritus of the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. He has previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Stowers Institute from June 2000. From 1972 until joining the Stowers Institute, he held various positions at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, including Professor of Cell Biology, holder of the Doris and Bryan Wildenthal Distinguished Chair in Biomedical Science, Dean of Southwestern Graduate School of Biological Sciences, Dean of Southwestern Medical School, and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
In addition to his position as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, Neaves currently serves as: member of the Boards of Directors of Stowers Resource Management, BioMed Valley Corporation, and BioMed Valley Discoveries; professor in the School of Medicine of the University of Missouri at Kansas City; member of the National Council of the Washington University School of Medicine; member of the Board of Trustees of Washington University; vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Midwest Research Institute; and member of the Board of Directors of Cerner Corporation. He received an A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors in Biology from Harvard College in 1966 and a Ph.D. in Anatomy from Harvard University in December 1969. |

Saurabh Saha is currently President of BioMed Valley Discoveries. Prior to joining BioMed Valley Discoveries, Dr. Saha was Director and Head of the Novartis Drug Discovery Incubator, at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, where he led a new therapeutic area with a mission to discover novel medicines for diseases with unmet medical need. Previously, he was a consultant in the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products Practice at McKinsey & Company in New York City.
Dr. Saha holds an M.D. and Ph.D. in Cancer Genetics from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he was a doctoral student in the laboratory of Drs. Bert Vogelstein and Kenneth W. Kinzler. Dr. Saha is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Oxford University, studying General Management and Biophysics respectively. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He is a member on the Editorial Boards of numerous journals including the Journal of Translational Medicine, Cancer Biology & Therapy and the American Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Saha serves as a member on the Board of Trustees of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Johns Hopkins Alliance for Science and Technology. Dr. Saha's work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal and The Economist and his publications in journals such as Science, Nature Biotechnology, Cancer Research and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences have been cited over 2000 times. |

Rod Sturgeon is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Stowers Institute. He joined the Stowers Institute in Feb. 2007 from a position as Senior Vice President, Personal Expression Group Finance at Hallmark Cards, Inc. As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Sturgeon is responsible for all financial operations for the Institute and its affiliated entities, including BioMed Valley Discoveries.
While at Hallmark, Mr. Sturgeon oversaw all North American and international finance activities, credit services and Information Technology for the Personal Expression business. He was a corporate officer, and served on the company’s personal expression group management team. Sturgeon joined Hallmark in 1974. He was vice president of finance and planning for Hallmark International prior to assuming the role as Senior Vice President and being named a corporate officer in 1993. Prior to Hallmark, he worked for the J.C. Penney Company. Sturgeon received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and his M.B.A. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He serves on the Kansas State University Business College Advisory Board, the Community National Bank Board and the American Century Investments Board. He has previously served on the Boards of both the Midwest Trust Company and Financial Counselors, Inc. |
